Director of Kanye's "Power" Music Video Says It's "Apocalyptic"
Kanye West's upcoming music video for his single Power is, well, powerful, according to its director. Marco Brambilla describes the video to The New York Times as being kind of apocalyptic, in a very personal way.
The video certainly depicts a sense of impending doom. The Times reports Kanye is seen in the clip with a heavy chain around his neck, surrounded by scantily-clad women, some of whom are wearing devil horns. An executioner nearby prepares to attack him with a blade.
Brambilla says the video simply represents the songs lyrics brought to life. He says, It had this very dark, personal conflict within it. Because of his own concept of celebrity and his own notoriety, hes keenly self-aware of all these things. And it all came out in the music.
The video for Power is expected to be posted on Kanyes website sometime next week. While the video will also be released to MTV and other networks, the Times speculates that some networks may not air it in uncensored form, due to its graphic nature.
